Climbing In Crete
Crete offers an amazing range of climbing opportunities, everything from the absolute beginner to more experienced climbers. The climbing in Crete has been greatly under-publicised and explored by the climbing world, so its all out there waiting for you to experience. Climbing in Crete is mostly limestone climbing but there are also some volcanic outcrops and grit stone. We can offer fun family “top rope” climbing sessions close to the beach so you don’t have to go far for a dip after your activity session. There are also more technical routes for the more experienced climber, also available to families and adult groups.
Climbing In Crete For School And Youth Groups
Climbing and abseiling is another popular activity for school and youth groups, if you are on a multi-activity programme. The systems and procedure is just the same as you have been used to in the UK on school residentials except when climbing in Crete the weather is much more favourable! We usually put a climbing session next to a snorkelling or coasteering session on school residentials just to provide that bit of variation. Both locations are also very close so you don’t waste time on traveling all over the island. For the experienced climber there are numerous routes close to Hania in the wonderful gorge of Thereso.
Climbing In Crete For Families And Adult Groups
For families and children we have several easier climbs that we “Top rope” to give the younger ones more confidence. There are also some technical climbs that we can “Top rope” for more able climbers. For those who are accomplished climbers we head to the fantastic Thereso Gorge. Thereso is the Llanberis Pass of Crete!! So many impressive multi and single pitch climbs. Further south we can go to Plakias for technical single pitch climbs if that is the sort of climbing you prefer.
