Mountain biking in Crete is a great way to explore the lesser known tracks and trails, ride through shady orange groves or take on steep mountain descents. There are no man-made technical trails in Crete, as there are in some other European countries, however there are some fantastic mountain bike routes that criss-cross the island using dirt roads and goat tracks. Mountain bike routes in Crete can vary from fairly short beginner routes through olive groves, to all day endurance trips through the mountains. Mountain biking is really popular with school groups as part of a multi-activity programme. Here again we mainly operate in Western Crete. Mountain Biking In Crete For Schools And Organised Groups

We offer three introduction level mountain bike routes for school groups. All take about half a day so fit nicely into a multi-activity programme. There is also a skills trail close to Hania which we use for schools wishing for their pupils to gain a “Gears” mountain bike award. This skills option gives the chance for some relaxation on a nearby beach once the instruction is finished.

Mountain Biking, Stylos

There are three nice introductory routes close to Kalyves that are suitable for families. For the more committed mountain biker there are some longer routes over dirt roads and mountain tracks across the Rodhopou Peninsula. These are fairly tough rides and you will need a good level of fitness.
